Release date: 31 0ctober 2008
I was just checking on IMDB to see what our "competition" is going to be on our release date (as in Friday 31st October) and I've found that MGM have moved one of their titles forward a week, which is going to be a bit of a pain for us. So in order of reverse importance to our release, the competition is:
Yuraaj: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1105747/ - (not much info on this title)
Hunger: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0986233/ - The last six weeks of the life of the Irish republican hunger striker Bobby Sands.
...and...
Quantum of Solace: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0830515/ - (I'm sure I don't need to say this, but...) - Seeking revenge for the death of his love, secret agent James Bond sets out to stop an environmentalist from taking control of a country's water supply.
SO...what I'm thinking is... why don't we try to mimick some of the coverage Bond will get and use it in our trailers / previews / publicity? (something like the idea of blood running down the screen and a zombie walking away)

Re: Release date: 31 0ctober 2008
The word 'Copyright' springs to mind, I think they'd pounce on anything that stole or leeched off their publicity...

Re: Release date: 31 0ctober 2008
Plus: You don't actually see us as contenders among the box office films, do you? Web films are quite a seperate market.
Re: Release date: 31 0ctober 2008
I didn't know there was a market for Internet Zombie Films! XD
Katy Perry.
I would.
I would.
Re: Release date: 31 0ctober 2008
Internet Films and serials. Dr. Horrible, for example.
Someone should talk to Joss Whedon about his philosophies and what he's learned about web distribution with Dr. Horrible. And perhaps to do a v-log.

Re: Release date: 31 0ctober 2008
No no, I wasn't necessarily presuming we'll be premiering at somewhere like the Odeon in Leicester Square, but even on the net, or possibly especially on the net, there's bound to be quite a bit of interest in the Bond film.
What I was suggesting was possibly using a couple the ideas which other people have already had to make a play on some of the typical, yet generic, Bond features, such as the gun barrel, Bond, blood opening titles; and see if we can't say use the world, a zombie and even more blood to parody the Bond titles.
(parodies are not considered copyright infringement material in most circumstances)

Re: Release date: 31 0ctober 2008
I think parodies are fine though. It'll be a giggle if nothing else ppl will appreciate a good giggle

Re: Release date: 31 0ctober 2008
Man, wouldn't it be cool to get Joss Whedon's feedback on this thing? Not gonna happen, of course. Still, would be cool.

Re: Release date: 31 0ctober 2008
I'm not so sure that's not to happen. Joss seems genuinely interested in web media and he's also a down to earth nerd. I think what we need to do is just contact him and see what he says. I'd be more'n happy to try to get in touch with him, and if he DOES reply, then that's just shiny.
Re: Release date: 31 0ctober 2008
I thought the idea of releasing this on Halloween was basically dust anyway?
Re: Release date: 31 0ctober 2008
I keep seeing negative comments from people on the IMDB forum and you tube comments, is this just hater comments?! or people genuinely thinking this won't work??
Re: Release date: 31 0ctober 2008
I think if we put our minds to it we might be able to get it done on time.

Re: Release date: 31 0ctober 2008
I think so too! Its nice to hear someone else being positive! does anyone know how close the script is to being finished?? also, i know someone interested in post production so when there is a team for that...
Re: Release date: 31 0ctober 2008
you have to be positive.
When i did a music video for my media a level. We had the worst luck ever! But we still got a good grade for it in the end. Just have to be positive.
