Ken Foree DOTD
Guys, just thought of something that might interest you all, for anyone that has seen the original George Romero's "Dawn Of The Dead" you will know of a certain actor who played one of the lead roles, his name is Ken Foree, now i think it would be pivotal to a zombie film project, to attract some names that are synominous with the genre. And i bring up Mr Forees name because i am quite friendly with him and his representitives as ive done so work for him on his website in the past, and he is a lovely fellow, and i know for a fact he loves projects like that. And if this goes as big as i think it could do, with the backing of the leaders of this site, i could quite possibly help weave him into a role, just a thought, let me know!
Re: Ken Foree DOTD
I hate to be argumentative, but I'd prefer a no established actors rule. I feel this should be entirely a project for people who have the talent and the skills but aren't discovered yet, to show you don't need to be discovered to be talented, rather than just casting people who've made it. I'm all for pushing the boundaries and making this a professional piece of cinema but we should maybe do what DotD 04 did and see if we can get these sorts of genre legends to do bit-parts and cameos.
Now if you're a professional, that shouldn't be a bar to taking part, but I feel that being a well-known name should limit your involvement to keep this project "grass roots". For me it's as much about proving a bunch of nobodies can script and produce a decent film as it is about anyone ever seeing it.

At first I read the OPer's post and thought:
"Wow - fantastic idea."
Then I read Loreki's post and thought:
"hmmm you have a point..."
In all, I believe it would be nice of him to make a statement about how good this project is and maybe even (if he is so kind enough) to make a brief guest appearance. Nothing major, just something to gain some more prestige in the film...
It is important to get as many people as possible interested in this film.
We've already got the BBC interested in this project and we can only expand this portfolio.

Ah i do get your point, i probably should have pointed out that i meant as a walk on role, i fully understand this is a project for people that haven't made it, much in the way i haven't, and all the others on this site! I meant it more as a cameo sort of role, perhaps just a newscaster, even a voice on the radio, etc etc, nothing major, but something thats just enough to make zombie fans goe...cool!
Hi all
I read all the posts and I think you all have a point. Ken Foree would be great to have on but just as a walk-on role. give some up and coming actors a chance!!!!
BTW - Am a really big fan of Romero's work!!!!!!!

Re: Ken Foree DOTD
Well...I do say that having Ken Foree is a good idea...plus...having him involved...might give more people the reason to see the movie...and boost the chances of some talented people getting discovered!
right?
right?
"Zombies?...Nah No Problem.....Whats that?...They are eating you?...Nah you'll figure it out...I'm trying to help make a movie here!"
Re
If you can persuade him to grace us with his prescence, you should really highlight that its him. Have him as a zombie, and the get someone to look at him and say "Holy crap! That looks like Ken Foree!" Then get Ken Foree to eat him. Just seems the way it should go. Culminates the zombie movie genre nicely.
Re: Ken Foree DOTD
I agree that no famous names should take major roles!
Having said that, if we were able to get a celeb then Ken Foree gets my vote.
The perfect passing nod would be the classic "no more room in hell" line that he quoted in both versions of Dawn of the Dead.
I doubt that copyright would allow that though unless George Romero wants to put some input into the project.
That could be his contribution.
