Celebrity guest appearance...

Post by gazdemon on Wed Aug 13, 2008 3:10 pm

Hello, I am new here...I just thought I would let you know that it might be possible for my nextdoor neighbour, Ricky Tomlinson (of The Royale Family and Mike Bassett: England Manager fame) to shoot a scene at a rural location. If this is viable, I can put the idea to Ricky, and he normally likes this kind of thing...also he has a TV quality camcorder which he is using to film his own documentary, so the scene could be filmed on that.

This would be brilliant, mate.
Obviously it would have been even better to include him as a character, say as someone's dad and have him feature more as a bigger name might draw people in and give it a bit of credibility.

I also rate Ricky as an actor so we should really look to invest some thought in this.

This sound a good idea, another one is that a film crew be it news or something is following the effect of the zombie attacks when they feature Mr Ricky Tomlinson as a celebrity who has been affected by the events, just one of the many ideas that could be used, but if he could be in our film that be cool.

Interesting that you should mention this, because I was in contact with Robert Llewellyn recently (aka: Kryten from Red Dwarf or the presenter on Scrapheap) and he seemed very interested in doing something for he film. I then contacted Bryony about it to tell her to get in touch with him, but I don't know if she did contact him after that. Maybe I'll simply write something for him to record and ask if that's fine for using instead of waiting for an answer.

David Tenant would be good, though i would think as he is more known for his role as Doctor Who if he does star in a bit of the film someone might say, ah doctor who is fighting zombies now, but he is a good enough actor to go beyong the typecast roles he is know for.

xbadxwolfx please no dying, enough undead round with all the zombies without you becoming one of them.

Typecast? He's only really known for the Doctor and Barty Crouch Jr, and they're completely different roles! ^_^

Personally, I think it would be cool if any celebrity guests would either play themselves or a character they wouldn't mind parodying. No matter what a celebrity DOES in the film in any case, people will be more hung up on going "Heeeey, that's him/her!" instead of paying attention to plot at that point. I think the least halting way to do it would probably be for them to be in it as themselves.

And judging from interviews and situations David Tennant has been in, I would imagine he'd be up for it if we asked the right way.

EDIT: Oh, but PLEASE no one rush in and contact anyone unless you know the person already. One false move from someone who "just wants to help" and the person in question could decide that our entire project is something to avoid like the plague.

Ok so he isn't that typecast, he has been in other roles but as you have said the only major ones have been The Doctor & Barty Crouch Jr in Harry Potter.

I'm with you in that it be cool to have celebrities in our film but as said not that their apperance takes away from the plot of the film, rather adds to it.

Ricky Tomlinson said he would be up for shooting a scene at his or my house/garden (we can use whichever seeing as we are neighbours), but although this idea seemed popular with people, no one in charge of this project has contacted me about taking this further, so it doesn't look as if it is going to happen...I am very disappointed, seeing as this is in their best interests, and it has taken away a lot of my faith in this project.
