Re: WHERE DO WE GO FROM HERE? Suggestion
Well my intention would always be to make something professional, there is funding to shoot it and funding to distribute it, but while the idea of using the net/forum to source the skills, i feel the committee approach is now holding it back. I think i'll have to start fresh, although anything we produce will be dedicated to this project.
Re: WHERE DO WE GO FROM HERE? Suggestion
I'm willing to organise a skype meeting, as long as we get the go-ahead from Bryony.
The script-writing team agreed on making our meetings 2100 UK time since that was most efficient for everyone in general. It'd be nice to get it held on the weekend, but I can make any time before then.

I agree with those who think that there should be one solid crew and location, London. But with Vblogs and Mini stories shot by induviduals and remote units. The Vblogs in the screening were pretty powerfull.
Also we have a good solid tried and tested core of talent now so we should be looking to build on that, not replace it.

Re: WHERE DO WE GO FROM HERE? Suggestion
Meet this saturday at 9pm then? Not sure whether I want to spend my saturday in front of the computer. At least, not if I'm not playing Left 4 Dead.. Any other days good for people? I can do friday or possibly thursday.
We'll need an agenda, as Skype meetings are usually fairly chaotic.
The questions on my mind that need resolving are:
What parts of the script do we shoot?
The script is way too long, and would be unwatchable if shot. With that in mind, what parts are most important (and most practical) to shoot?
Where do we shoot?
We need a decent location scout / producer on this one. The most important is an interior for Ben's flat, but there are far more ambitious (/illegal) locations on the script we need to work out.
How can we better utilise the vlogs?
The vlogs were the most interesting part of the film for most industry people, and worked incredibly well at the screening. I think these need to be used a lot more to replace the areas of the script we can't film, and I'd love to expand on some of the stories in there. Also, they're a lot easier than shooting full stories.
We also need to work out someone to take charge that we can get behind, otherwise we're going to have some pretty serious issues when it comes to editing this thing

In my experience While stuff like live chats etc are useful it's hard to have proper detailed discussions on them and make sure the information is available for all those involved. It's much easier to post lots of information like what has already been shot, what still needs to be shot etc on forums. It also allows people to put out better considered arguments imo.
Re: WHERE DO WE GO FROM HERE? Suggestion
I'd love to involved again, i did a bit of writing on the early parts of the script so want to see this film get finished & if i can help i'd be happy to.
It has been said that in previous posts that the vlogs that opened the promo were good, i agree with that like to see more in some of the to be finished film.
Also i think the cast we have now are good, like to see them return if possible to be in the remainder of the film.
In a previous post it had said about cutting the script down, i feel that cuts can be made, keep the core of the story, Ben, Abby, Kelly & Ethan trying to get out of London with Eric's help, i do like the idea of mini stories also as well as people try to feel the zombies telling their own stories, though this can be done with vlogs i guess.
Its cool that people are still very much behind getting this film done, hope that we can finish it.

Re: WHERE DO WE GO FROM HERE? Suggestion
How will the Skype meeting be organized? Is there a conch system or something?

You're gonna need to gimme your Steam ID and we can play a round together! XD
I think friday would be best since we can gather up members and give them a bit more word in advance for them to make a schedule
The Skype sessions the script-team had was handled pretty well, we had Mitch leading the meetings and everyone got a say when he announced who could speak next. ie: Passing the conch, I think the term is.Curranpete wrote:We'll need an agenda, as Skype meetings are usually fairly chaotic.

So what youre saying is that either:
1 - The Ben and Co. sequences be cut down for Vlogs and other stories
or
2 - Cut down the script all-together, have a shorter movie
I'm not sure which one you're trying to get at, if any of them at all. In any case It'd be very useful to have either Mag or Alexis or Paul, or even better all of them, to attend and work on it - that is, of course, if they want to take this on at all.
The locations of the script are primarily down hidden alleys with occasional entrances into roads which, as you say, will cause a fair bit of problems, perhaps filming in another town for certain road-shots would do that.

I think it's exactly that.
This will still be a full feature production but I agree with Pete that we really need to cut down the Ben & co scenes.
Fuziller, it may well be worth both you and Pete working over the script to go through scenes that may be difficult to film. With you script input and Pete's knowledge of what is possible from the production side of things it should be a useful exercise?
At this stage I feel that we've got the script, it just needs reworking. A Friday skype meeting would be preferable.
And I'm loving playing Left4Dead too. What a cool game.

I'd be up for working with Pete on the script, but I primarily focused on Act 3 and Act 2, so it'd be exceedingly useful to get another scriptwriter/s involved.

Re: WHERE DO WE GO FROM HERE? Suggestion
Friday's good for me, and a conch should work.
I think we need to effectively concentrate Ben and co's story, i.e. work out the key moments, and give them context through the vlogs, aiming for a total screen time of around 60-70 minutes (dependant on the quality of what we shoot). I'm happy to work with others on what parts we end up using.
The most problematic locations in my mind are the tube stations and the corner shop. It's illegal to shoot in any tube station without prior permission, and you'd struggle to get a station manager to ok a zombie sequence of any kind, they're pretty tough on anything that could disturb people. The corner shop I like in the script, but getting a shop to shut down for a day so we can film would almost definitely not happen for free, so that's a pretty big roadblock. Alleys aren't so bad, but we need to be careful about repeating similar areas.
I'm happy to get other writers involved, but I need to warn you that many of the cuts will have to be quite brutal. In many ways it's good to have people who are less attached doing that.

Re: WHERE DO WE GO FROM HERE? Suggestion
Hey,
I could have done the sat but can't do friday am afraid.
However I'm sure I will be up for whatever you discuss, I'm just an actress/viral fan (at least in this I am)
In terms of the flat scenes we could also do some improv stuff if necessary. Me and Mike got on well at the october shoot and I think that could work. Might make that initial 'Abbey rant' easier to cut (I have no idea who 'pound' is...) We need the location of course but I think that first scene with Abbey and Ben won't be overly arduous to create...

Re: WHERE DO WE GO FROM HERE? Suggestion
i'm up for a meeting, i suppose.
i haven't read most of these posts, so i'm not sure what really needs to be done.
i don't know how much good i'll do, but i'll show up.
as for script changes, i don't care what gets cut. i didn't really write any of that script anyway, so i could care less what stays and what goes.
i'm pretty much free this week/weekend, so just let me know the date/time.

I'd imagine that we can get permission from Transport for London (or attempt to). We just need public liability insurance, which isn't expensive. Contact the Borough Film Service, let them know (or jump through the hoops listed here http://www.filmlondon.org.uk/content.asp?CategoryID=731).
Have to find a suitable time to film; late on a weekday means fairly few public about.
