Production Begins! How we're going to film this thing.

As I'm sure you all know the deadline of the 30th is looming ever closer, and we're still yet to have anything filmed. Tim, Bryony and I have been talking about how to approach this, and we think the best approach will be to shoot a segment, or 'chapter' of the film to show at the screening and complete the rest of the film in segments over the coming months. We're gearing up to film on the 18th & 19th of this month to try and get a good segment shot and given to the editors / FX / Sound teams ASAP.

We both want this very much to be a community project, and there are a number of ways we'd really love you to get involved if you can. The first order of business is deciding which scene to shoot, but we also need Locations, Crew and Zombies as soon as possible.

We're going to strongly suggest that we do the scene at the intersection, it has a good introduction for each of the major characters, has comedy with Ethan's reaction to the zombie falling through the door and has a good climax with the group running through zombies. (You can find the script pretty easily by opening the script -Here - and doing a CTRL - F for the phrase 'BEN, ABBEY, ETHAN, and KELLY are coming up to an intersection.')

This would be a practical scene to shoot well in our time frame, and would provide a really punchy introduction to what we want to do with the film.

It'd be great to have a conversation with a lot of you about how we can pull this off, I find talking over forums quite hard so it'd be good if you could add me on skype, my User's Curranpete. Failing that drop me a message on here or an e-mail. I'd love to talk to you if you're involved, or want to be involved with Sound, FX, Editing or Storyboarding (or anything I've forgotten!).

On the 30th October, we will be screening the segment. Bryony has told us there's a good chance it will be screened at the Curzon Cinema, Soho, London, which is terrific news. The Curzon has a reputation for screening great emerging films. During the screening we can have several people speaking about what IZM is about, the process so far, and where it's looking to go from here. The segment will act as an example of the great work to come and a chance for us to really get the word out in order to convince more people to collaborate on future sections of the film.

If the film's screening does the trick, there will be more directors, producers, editors, etc.. who will want in on the project, which would mean small groups could get together and film different sections with the actors. An alternative to using the same actors every time, would be to 'I'm Not There'-style swap the actors at different intervals of the film, to strengthen this idea of world collaboration by giving other people a chance.

like the sound of it
Not so sure about the 'I'm not there' thing as Bob Dylan is Bob Dylan- everyone knows who he is

In terms of these characters how can the audience get to know them if they keep changing actor? Its horror/humour, not arthouse if you see what I mean?
