My review is below
Just returned from the cinema and I can't help but feel that the Bond that made itself famous and world-renowned has simply died out.
I can understand Casino Royale's attempt to add a change of pace, but another gadget-less movie? Bond was famed for its ridiculous gadgets, the love-making scenes and the hilariously over-the-top evil bosses, but that's gone in QoS.
QoS's plot is thicker than the Yellow Pages, from what I gathered from watching it it was about the "evil boss" buying out a large section of land in the middle of a reforming country.
//Possible Spoilers//
But it turns out that all he wanted from that area of land is the hidden water supply below, leaving me thinking; "What the hell?" I believe that they also were searching for diamonds in that area, but I dont really care.
//End of Possible Spoilers//
This left me realising that the evil boss simply isn't evil enough for a Bond movie. He's a businessman. He wants to make a profit. From what I saw he wasnt even doing anything wrong to cause a national outcry. You may know more about the plot than I do, so sorry if I got things wrong from what I read, but in the world of 007, this guy is the weakest evil end-of-movie-boss yet.
Add into that the "Global-Warming" message that shines out like the friggin' sun, you realise that Bond has now ditched the action for the drama.
Granted there are plenty of action sequences in this movie, but theyre poorly done. To understand the confusion I went through trying to find out who did what to who and how, try reading a newspaper on Stealth at Thorpe Park. For example, near the end of the movie I managed to just about see that a jeep revered into a wall and that triggered a huge explosion. I have absolutely no idea what caused the jeep to explode like that. In the post-Casino Royale movies, you would simply accept that every enemy car would explode like a rickety wagon filled to the brim with TNT because they were simply, dare I say it, Cheesey-action movies. They've had Bond in space for christ's sake and a big friggin' lazer beam sweeping across the Antarctic in Die Another Day, but one-tap-exploding cars have no place in this movie now. The cheese has been removed from the series, the fun aspect has been removed for gritty realism, a plague that has been consuming game-designers for a while now.
In terms of positive aspects, theres a great reference to the legendary gold-painted-woman-on-a-bed scene from Goldfinger and it was good to see a powerfull cast up on screen. Daniell Craig is a great James Bond, but I really do think they should've left Casion Royale's cheerfull self behind instead of trying to do a similar movie that would almost definately be a dissapointment, I mean the hype that was raised over the next movie to Casino Royale was amazing, yet there were obviously the nit-pickings of; "They cant out-do this one, though." Sadly they were right.

Re: Quantum of Solace
Going to see Quantum of Solace at somepoint over the weekend, i have heard some reviews of it but i still want to see it, well its either this or Saw V.
I have always been a fan of the Bond films so would feel i was somewhat missing out if i don't see this film, no matter how good or bad it is, i will have to wait till i have seen the film to make my mind up on if its a decent Bond film or not.

Re: Quantum of Solace
I preferred Saw V by a mile, to be honest.
The series crashed at III, but is slowly making its way up the "respectability-line".
(Oh and dont be fooled by the tagline "you wont believe how it ends", cos nothing frigging happens!)

Re: Quantum of Solace
Just come back from seeing Quantum of Solace, they should changed the title to Quantum of No Sense, as that's what the plot what there is of it for the film did, made no sense.
I have always liked Bond, more from Goldeneye onwards, though I am a fan of the other films in the series they were good films, great action and good bad guys for Bond to fight but the odds he faces in this film are just not worth it.
The action scenes were good aside from the opening set piece, which did not really have merit until later on in the scene; no reason was given as to why this was happening at the very start of the film.
As said in the last review the cast was great, they could have done so much more with this though they dropped the ball on that one, kind of wished i had gone to see Saw now but that’s next on my list to see.
I do hope that Daniel Craig’s next outing as 007 has more bang than the damp squib this film was, it is worth a watch if your a bond fan but don't expect to much as you maybe disappointed, not Bond's best day.
