PLEASE NO GUNS.
As you may or may not know I haven't been part of this forum long so forgive me if this has already been discussed, but in this country (England) guns are bad. They are not allowed which brings me to this topic.
I don't want to see anybody carrying pistols, rifles, shotguns or any other weapons which wouldn't generally be put of our everyday life.
Thats just my opinion though and if anyone else disagrees with me then let me know.
But remember if this is serious or comedy it should stay on track and be reasonably beleavable to a degree.

Re: PLEASE NO GUNS.
That's a good point but Police & such do carry guns, just come through Heathrow so i know that, Police would be out trying to keep the masses of people safe as they try & flee the zombies.
Maybe one of the characters can come across a dead police officer & take their gun, but doesn't know how to use it, ie take the safety off etc just as a zombie is closing in.
I do stand by your point of the Uk being a gun free or more a gun controlled nation, rather than the States where there easier to get hold of.

Re: PLEASE NO GUNS.
In responce to your point about the dead police man. I like the idea of taking his weapon and not understanding the safety catch, which has been done before. But how about when the zombie gets close enough and our character realises the pistol aint going to fire, he beats it round the with the handle, you never knnow the safety catch could release and he could shoot himself. Remember don't play with guns kids.
Re: PLEASE NO GUNS.
Sounds good, attack the zombie with the gun as he / she can't get the gun to fire as they do the gun goes off they are hit & fall to the ground holding their bleeding gunshot wound.
Have two ideas here, they take the gun & aim it back at the zombie firing it but nothing a click, the zombie attacks them as they lie unable to keep the attack from happening.
They are able to fire the gun killing the zombie but as they lie dying other zombies come in smelling fresh blood, you can guess the rest.

Re: PLEASE NO GUNS.
I feel that this is more realistic than having some bloke carrying a pistol without explaining where it came from. Having said that, your average bobby on the beat doesn't "pack a piece". But who knows what sort of weapons teams teams could be knocking about waiting for this sort of outbreak. I'm getting carried away now.
Re: PLEASE NO GUNS.
Mmmmm....Well, I've just shot (no pun intended!) two short vlog sequences and characters in them are fully armed. It is explained in vlog narrator voice over that the characters are not military although they are armed.
I've not given an explantion for this because I was really aiming (again no pun intended!) to make a homage to the redneck sequences in Dawn Of The Dead because I liked the idea of some ordinary joes not taking the whole zombie apocalypse too seriously.
I went for the humour angle...or at least I tried too. Suspension of disbelief is key I think.
P.S - I very nearly incorporated a flame thrower (aerosol can style) as that would have been very easy to accomplish film effects wise and could have looked cool. I've tested it and it works so perhaps it will find a home somewhere.....

Re: PLEASE NO GUNS.
I think having the odd person here & there armed up would be ok i think scooter zombie was more worried that everyone & there Mum would be armed up, some people would have access to guns, farmers & such, there are those who have guns about as they are " gun nuts " and such waiting till the day that the world goes bad, the zombies are such a time.
I like that you go back to echo what has been done before in the Romero films but they are set in the States but i am sure moving the action to the Uk won't change things much.

Re: PLEASE NO GUNS.
Just watch the zombie diaries and you'll see all these scenes with guns in. To me when I watch a film I try to imagine what I would do in the situations. I think in a zombie outbreak I would always be looking out for a more effective weapon but I would struggle to come across a gun. Lets remember what country this is, too many people want to be American. I'm sorry to any Americans out there reading this but I'm sure there are plenty of things we do that you don't. You know what I mean, just keep it real.
Re: PLEASE NO GUNS.
Have not seen Zombie Dairies....is it any good? Very much enjoyed Dairy Of The Dead though...Romero rules!
I could go down the Spielberg E.T. route and replace the guns in my vlog with walkie talkies but the scene would not be as fun...and it would look silly.
We know it is possible to get hold of guns in this country if you want to, as we have witnessed recently on the news. In that respect, my vlog is making a statement about the current problem we have here with firearms. A social message.

Re: PLEASE NO GUNS.
Half the fun of zombies is shooting them! But I guess civilised English zombies can be reasoned with over a nice pot of tea and a couple of scones with strawberry jam and clotted cream...

If you can buy a gun two aisles over from where you buy you're groceries, then you're an American.
Re: PLEASE NO GUNS.
Sadly....Mitch is exactly right. They sell guns in Wal-Mart. It makes me depressed.
Re: PLEASE NO GUNS.
At the moment over here not a day goes by without someone getting stabbed in a pub (bar).
What are people thinking of going on a night out carrying a knife.

Re: PLEASE NO GUNS.
does anyone know how to use a gun? in most films the actors always unlock something before they shoot.
