Re: E4's Dead Set
It i am not sure if i want to watch dead set or not. I saw a pic of divina (soz spelling) as a zombie lets just say i will never watch a show with her in the same way again, The picture was scary. Then i went on the site and there was more pictures and see looked so sad on the shot of her just after bitten.
The first pic of her as a zombie was yesturday in the metro paper you get free on the busses. I was suprised they would put a picture like that in a free newspaper where little kids could look at it. I did think about scarying the kids by sticking up that picture on the side of the bus but then i throught maybe not.
I feel if i watch it then i never look at bb in the same way again. I watch and wait for zombies to kill the overacting people then i remember this one is the real show
Not sure to watch.

Re: E4's Dead Set
Ok so i was watching "The Addams Family" today as it was on channel 4 and i have not seen it for ages. I was surprised to see the Dead Set trailer played at the ad break. I mean it did not show the zombie fully but i was surprised they played it during a family film.
Still decideing wheater to watch or not

Re: E4's Dead Set
omg, theres a really scary unseen thing where they get you to type in your first name and age....fuck I'm freaked out!
Re: E4's Dead Set
I thought the atmosphere, plot, and set-up of Dead Set were all done well, but the thing that disappointed me was the zombies themselves. They've gone with the trend for caffeinated MTV-era speeding zombies popularised by 28 Days Later, rather than the classic Romero-style lumbering motion. The use of rapid editing during the attack scenes is presumable supposed to increase the suspense, but I found it quite unsatisfying. What makes zombies threatening is their delayed potential for attacking, which is dissipated once the blood and guts actually start flying.
Do we know how the IZM will compare on that score?

Re: E4's Dead Set
After i decided to not watch Dead Set i found myself keep changing channels and watching Dead set as the same time as mock the week. It was ok what i saw. My favourite line from it was. "Is that Divina?" "Sort Of. I liked that line.
Might tape tonights and watch 2moro.

Re: E4's Dead Set
Did no-one else find that the way they all banged against doors was a total 28 days rip off? Not just that they banged, but the way they did it, the timing, the way those shots were filmed, everything just seemed ripped off.
Meh, still enjoyed it though.

Re: E4's Dead Set
Yeah that whole rapid cutting thing jus pisses me right off now, ALTHOUGH I kinda liked the out of focus shots they kept using (even it was probably to make up for dire make up/effects) it left more to the imagination =]
Bad Ending?
So i have been in and out of dead set. All i can say i'm sad about the ending. It could have been open ended and they could do more series. I did not really like it.

Re: E4's Dead Set
Here's a really good article by Simon Pegg, echoing the comments in this thread about the mistake of using fast zombies, and arguing persuasively for the importance of slowness:
'More significantly, the fast zombie is bereft of poetic subtlety. As monsters from the id, zombies win out over vampires and werewolves when it comes to the title of Most Potent Metaphorical Monster. Where their pointy-toothed cousins are all about sex and bestial savagery, the zombie trumps all by personifying our deepest fear: death. Zombies are our destiny writ large. Slow and steady in their approach, weak, clumsy, often absurd, the zombie relentlessly closes in, unstoppable, intractable.'
